About Jack Caselles
Jack “Cactus” Caselles – Ceramic Artist
The Cactus – a prickly plant able to produce lovely things
Cactus is passionate about Ceramics. “Cut my veins and clay slip will come out not blood. I only wish I had found Ceramics 20 years earlier”.
Jack is a retired high school teacher and before that he worked in the Aerospace industry.
He does most of his work in his own studio and some work at the “Clay Yard” studio in Ontario, Ca. He teaches a small class in Claremont, and is available for individual instruction in his home studio. He is a member of the Redlands Art Association, and shows his work at various venues in the area.
He has taken workshops from Frank Massarella, Tom Coleman, Randy Broadnax, Don Reitz, Julia Galloway and others. He has exhibited at the Hillcrest Annual Art show, the Whittier Art Gallery, and has won awards at the Los Angeles County Fair, and the Winnebago Annual Rally in Iowa. He maintains a booth at the Claremont Village Venture and does various home shows for local fans and friends.
His work includes unique and goofy things, both utilitarian and decorative pieces as well as tile and mosaic work. He believes that the ceramic worker has no “standard operating procedures” only inspiration and whimsy. The patron is the ultimate “boss”.
All work done with Passion and Love
Cactus Jack Ceramics Awards
Awards
Over the years I have exhibited my ceramics at many pottery shows. One of my most memorial pottery exhibit I attended was my first show, the Winnebago Annual Rally in Iowa. It was the first time one of my pieces, a little tea pot, won an award.
